Crash Crash Crash!
Posted by: | CommentsToday was another beautiful day in St.kitts with perfect conditions. Marco and I kited all day in front of the Marriott. The wind was coming from the east and because of the rocks that surround this area it leaves the water nice and flat which is great for practicing freestyle tricks. Although I spent most of the time crashing it was all worth it to land one switch low back mobe. I will keep working on them and look forward to landing them consistently.
100 crashes to land one new trick is well worth it!
Sandy Bank
Posted by: | CommentsToday was a great day! I went out to Sandy bank for the first time to teach and do a bit of kiting myself. The wind was blowin and I had some great 20ft to 30ft airs and some nice kiteloops. Michel also had his best session as he was able to stay up wind really well and also learned how to cope with the waves. We had a great laugh as I rode by Michel and said “this spot is awesome” not even a second later I tried to show off and do an s bend, the footstraps weren’t adjusted for my feet and the board flew off and I crashed down hard in a few inches of water and got dragged up the beach. With minor injuries I got up quickly and glanced at Michel as he had a scared reaction which turned into both of us laughing our heads off when he realized I was okay.
Whenever you are kiting close to the beach or in shallow water always take extra precaution.
What a week!!!
Posted by: | CommentsWe are having an amazing week of wind, everyday over 20mph. Its so nice to ride on a 9m or a 7m. The kites respond so much faster and the rush that comes with jumping over 20ft in the air and looping your kite through the power zone is unbeatable. I am really looking forward for the weekend where it will get up to 25mph.
Can’t wait!!!

Golf Course Session
Posted by: | CommentsAfter today’s lesson I was able to finally get out there and ride for myself. As I have been so anxious to have a good session and to try the tips I picked up from watching the video’s. Even better the direction was perfect to kite in the lagoon by the golf course.
The water is as flat as can be. A little gusty in some areas but it blows good enough that you can pop in the open area and boy do I mean pop. What a difference to kite in water that flat, it feels so amazing. It was also cool having spectators from 4 different holes who all had a great view of the lagoon clapping and cheering me on after landing each trick. The golfers behind them were probably wondering what the hold up was and then of course took their time to enjoy watching me ride.
I did notice a big difference by keeping my arms more tucked in while popping. It help me to be a lot more consistent with catching the bar and landing smooth.
Looking forward to the next golf course session!
If you want to learn, learn from the best!
Posted by: | CommentsI was watching Aaron Hadlow’s newest video “Mimic this” probably for the 1 millionth time but I noticed something I am doing soooo wrong while poping. I started to watch some of my own personal videos and I make the same mistake every time yet still make my passes. What I am doing wrong when popping is I am letting my arms out making it much harder to bring the bar to my hips when making the pass. If you watch in Aaron’s video when he unhooks he keeps his arms bent, his elbows in and the bar at his forehead before he pulls the bar into his hips. Check out Aaron Hadlow’s video. Unreal!!!
I am really looking forward to see the improvements in my riding tomorrow.
Beautiful day at the beach!!!
