Finally the wind has started.
Posted by: | CommentsGot off to a slow start with the wind this year but now we have a great forecast for the week and really looking forward to getting back into it again. Super excited that the Christmas winds have finally started.
New season has begun!!!
Posted by: | CommentsI just arrived in St.Kitts to meet St.Kitts Kiteboarding ‘s new kite instructor Mark Moore. Mark has extensive knowledge in kitesurfing. He just finished a kite surfing wave contest in Peru with the top pros from around the world. Mark is into regular surfing as well so he will be heading up our new surfing division, a great complimentary activity to kiteboarding especially on those no wind days. After spending a few days with Mark, he really shares the same passion for kiteboarding as I do. Mark is very energetic and eager to start teaching. I know that this will be the best season in St.Kitts yet.

1ST place for Freestyle am Competition at the 2011 BVI KiteJam
Posted by: | CommentsI just got back from the 2011 BVI KiteJam. What a trip!!! We had great wind 5 out of the 7 days. The British Virgin Islands are absolutely beautiful. This is an event like no other. You pretty much get to sail around the BVI’s kiting with some of the top pros like Youri Zoon, Pete Cabrinha, Andre Phillip, Kristine Boese, Shannon Best and so many more. It was very well organized thanks to Charlie and Scotty who pretty much created the event a long with Richard Branson. They’re were so many fun parties pretty much every night where you get to socialize with the pros and all the other kite jammers. It was great to meet so many people who loved kiteboarding as much as I did.
I was so excited to also finally get a chance to compete in my first freestyle event and race event. There was some amazing competition and I knew it wouldn’t be easy. The first event was the race around Necker Island. I’m not much of a racer but my friend Erik convinced me to participate anyways. Sure enough I ended up wining the event so I was super stoked.
The next day we had a nice downwinder in Anegada. I ended up breaking the bridals on my kite so it wasn’t function properly right before the freestyle event. I asked around for a kite to borrow but everyone was competing. I knew I couldn’t miss this chance so I temporarily fixed my bridals and went out there. I launched my kite and just nailed almost all my tricks. Luckily I did because my kite only lasted about 15 mins before it was not rideable. All the other competitors had an hour to impress. I ended up winning the event and couldn’t be happier with my performance.
Here is a picture of Youri Zoon and I holding up our prizes after winning the freestyle event.
St.Kitts Kiteboarding would like to Welcome Matty to the Kite world
Posted by: | CommentsMatty is another addition to the local riders here in St.Kitts. Michel convinced him to get into the sport and through Steve’s excellent instructing Matty quickly fell in love with the sport. He is now ripping up wind on his new f-one bandit 4′s. We will have Matty jumping in no time!
Excellent job Matty!!!
Ethan will be the next little ripper.
Posted by: | CommentsEthan is an 8 yr old boy who just took his first kite lesson with St.Kitts Kiteboarding school. Its so refreshing to teach young kids because the way they learn is much different then adults. I was teaching Ethan on a 4.5m Mr.Fantastic in about 18 knots of wind. Ethan quickly learned how to fly the kite and in no time was out body dragging on his own. Ethan is the son of Heidi and Lyn who also took lessons with us and they too did very well. It was great spending a couple days with you guys.
Thanks and hopefully we’ll see you again soon!

A great way to improve your style and skills!!!
Posted by: | CommentsAs a professional kiteboarder I am always looking for ways to get better and improve my style. One of the best ways to do this is to record yourself on camera so you can see where you are making your mistakes and see what your tricks look like. This is a great way to improve your skills!!!
This video is a compilation of all my best tricks captured on camera from the 2009-10 season. This is also a great way to see how much you have improved since last year.
Perfect conditions, hard crashes and two new tricks on video. Yeaahhh!
Posted by: | CommentsMike and I went out to Turtle beach yesterday and both had a really great session. Mike’s riding improves each time he hits the water. I was teaching him hooked in Raley’s and towards the end of the session I look over at him and see him stomp a sick raley. We were both overjoyed to say the least. I also had a really wicked session. I was stomping a lot of my passes which is always a wonderful feeling. Towards the end of our second session Mike was a little tired so he decided to do some filming. First I wanted to get a blind judge 3 on video. I have been crashing a lot with this trick but managed to nail it the second attempt on video. Next I was eager to get a slim chance on video. This one didn’t go as well. I crashed pretty hard the 4th attempt and whacked my head and arm off the board. A little dazed from the crash with an excited audience I decided to push even harder. A few hard crashes later, I stomped a nice slim chance.
Enjoy the videos!
