A wonderful day for some
ByThe other day John, Mike and I went out for a session at turtle beach. We were met by Benjamin who kites over at Nevis and had never been kiting on st kitts before. Mike mentioned that he saw a bunch of students heading over to Sandy bank so John asks if I wanted to kite over there. We had to get up wind quite a bit before we could head down wind to Sandy bank. I got upwind much faster and headed downwind to Sandy bank. I arrive at Sandy bank and the beach is full of students, the music is blaring and its a great time. I finally land my kite and wondered what happen to John. That thought lasted a second until some students greeted me with a cold beer and we started chatting about kiteboarding. I figured John gave up and continued kiting at Turtle beach. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case at all. John got caught to close to the mountains and of coarse the wind was messed up and he lost power and couldn’t relaunch his kite. He had to self rescue and hike through some treacherous conditions up mountains, in prickly bushes through trees without knowing where he was while carrying all his gear bare foot. It was quite priceless to see the look on his face when he had heard about how my day went.
